Jide Odukoya is a multi-award winning Nigerian photographer and entrepreneur with more than ten years of experience documenting wedding, portrait, commercial and lifestyle moments for hundreds of corporate and personal brands across Africa, North America, Europe and the Middle East. Through his Lagos, Nigeria-based JOP Studios, Jide has led a team of young and vibrant professional photographers and editors to serve thousands of clients.
Jide began his creative career as a freelance digital artist in 2009 and joined Fans Connect Online as a front end web UI/UX developer and graphics designer, working on creative projects for local and multinational brands.
In 2011, Jide’s entry emerged Top 20 in the Lagos/Etisalat Amateur Photography competition. He then participated in the Invisible Borders road trip from Lagos to Libreville, Gabon in 2012, capturing images of people within West Africa. He then went on a photo exchange expedition to Germany and Poland where he captured images focused on various social issues and architectural history.
Jide’s photography has since been exhibited at the “Carnet de Voyages” (c) Invisible Borders, Biennale Benin, Benin (2012); Lagos Photo Festival (2012, 2014), Addis PhotoFest, Ethiopia (2012); Invisible Borders Exhibition at New Museum, New York, USA (2012) and in Ethiopia (2013); “Where the Niles Meet’’ Group Exhibition, Khartoum, Sudan (2014); Prince Claus Fund in partnership with Invisible Borders, Amsterdam (2014); German-Polish Exhibition, Abuja (2014); Venice Biennale Group Exhibition with Invisible Borders, Italy (2015); and Streams of Consciousness: Bamako Encounters, Mali (2019). In 2019, Jide’s debut solo exhibition featuring his six-year body of work, “Turn It Up: On Paradoxes” was held in London, England.
Jide’s works have also been featured in leading publications including Al Jazeera America, The Guardian UK and the New York Times. Jide holds a Diploma in Entrepreneurial Management from the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University (2016), a Bachelors in Systems Engineering from the University of Lagos (2011) and a National Diploma in Industrial Maintenance Engineering from the Yaba College of Technology, Lagos (2005).
Jide lives in Lagos, Nigeria with his wife and their twin boys.
